The business and its search audience

Austin Structural Inspections, led by Kenneth Larson, needed to reconnect its website with people searching for local home inspections. The documented service area included Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander and Pflugerville. The original project record describes lost visibility following a move to WordPress, making the immediate task one of restoring a dependable search foundation for an established inspection business.

The work we carried out

Our work included local keyword research and mapping, title and heading improvements, internal-link and 404 fixes, image optimisation, and Analytics and Search Console setup. We created a keyword mapping document, weekly ranking reports and a local SEO roadmap. The project paused when an outdated theme broke, requiring a redesign before further SEO work. That interruption limits what can fairly be presented as a completed campaign outcome.

The original brief and keyword plan

At the start of the project, Kenneth described an earlier top-three Google position and a subsequent loss of visibility after moving to WordPress. The brief was to strengthen search visibility for an established, one-person home-inspection business. Austin was the primary market; Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Pflugerville and Hutto were considered as secondary search areas.

The research shortlisted “Austin home inspector,” “Austin inspection,” “Austin inspections,” “Austin inspectors,” “home inspection Austin,” “home inspection Austin cost,” “home inspection cost Austin,” “home inspector Austin Texas” and “inspection Austin.” The assessment considered local search demand, keyword difficulty, commercial intent and cost-per-click signals. Map Pack results and inspection-cost snippets were also identified as relevant search-result opportunities.

We mapped the ten primary keywords to the Home, Services, Pricing and About pages. Nearby-city phrases were intended for suitable copy, metadata and future location pages. A separate FAQ and blog plan addressed questions such as “how long does a home inspection take” and “home inspection cost Austin,” giving the client a way to develop useful information beyond the core service pages.

What was delivered before the pause

Implementation in progress included title tags, meta descriptions and headings; fixing broken-page errors; improving internal links; and adding more descriptive image text. Google Analytics and Search Console were set up, and the client received a keyword-mapping sheet and weekly activity and ranking reports. The original project summary reported early improvements for selected terms, without a complete quantified before-and-after result.

The remaining planning materials covered on-page improvements, sitemap submission, robots-file review and image-description guidance. The local SEO checklist set out Google Business Profile steps, a citation list and a review-building plan. These roadmap items should be distinguished from the fixes already implemented before the theme failed.

When the outdated theme broke, the engagement stopped mid-way so the website could be redesigned. The client retained the keyword assignments, completed on-page fixes, reporting and a local-content roadmap. Those were concrete deliverables from the interrupted engagement; they did not remove the need to rebuild the site and re-establish a reliable baseline before claiming a completed growth result.

What the search review reveals

The August 2026 US snapshot records 11 tracked keywords and 3 estimated monthly organic visits.

The original strategy separated core inspection terms, nearby-city searches and questions about inspection costs or duration. Those distinctions remain useful for page planning. Today’s US search extract is very small: the August 2026 snapshot estimates three organic visits, with one page and two keywords returned in the current reports. This is a historical implementation case with specific deliverables, rather than evidence of a sustained current traffic win.

A practical next phase

A sensible restart would begin with a stable website and a review of redirects, core service pages and the preserved keyword plan. The local SEO checklist covered Google Business Profile, citations and review-building opportunities; those items should be assessed against the business’s current setup. Reconnecting reporting to calls and inspection requests would allow any new campaign to be judged on a fresh baseline after the technical interruption.
